Requisite Documents

Requirements for Tourist Visa:
  • Visa Application form, duly completed and signed by the applicant personally. In case of child under 18, Application Form should be signed by both the Parents.
  • One recent passport-sized picture in colour with White background.
  • Passport should be valid for atleast six months beyond the intended duration of stay in the Schengen territory.
  • Confirm Return Air Ticket or Reservation.
  • Overseas Medical insurance valid for all Schengen-countries. The insurance has to cover all risk e.g. accident, illness, etc. (Minimum Coverage is 30,000 Euros)
  • Financial Requirements: (1) Original Bank Account statements (Personal) for the last 03 months, (2) Original Income Tax Challan (Personal) for the last 03 years, (3) copy of Pan Card, (4) Salary Slips (if Salaried), (5) Foreign Exchange endorsement on the passport or receipt or Credit card copy along with statement or Traveller’s Cheque.
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel reservation).
  • If Salaried, Employment Letter from the Current Organization stating the Position & No Objection Letter confirming the Leave status.
  • If applicable: Students have to submit a letter from their university/school confirming their status/attendance indicating the holiday period or - during school year - a permission to be up sent from class including time frame.
  • Previous passport or passports may also be requested.
  • Covering letter explaining the reason of your trip to Greece , duration of stays etc.
  • If self-employed, evidence of your business. (Company Profile and Income Tax Returns for last years.)
  • For children under 18, a notarized 'No-objection Certificate' from non- accompanying parents.
  • Interview, if required by The Embassy of Greece.
  • Applicant would be asked for additional documents if required by The Embassy of Greece.

Requirements for Business visa:
  • Application form filled in completely and to be signed by each applicant personally.
  • One recent passport-sized picture in colour with White background.
  • Passport should be valid for atleast six months beyond the intended duration of stay in the Schengen territory.
  • Confirm Return Air Ticket or Reservation.
  • Original letter from the Indian company specifying reason for stay in Greece .
  • Original invitation letter from the company in Greece .
  • Registration Certificate of the Indian company & Indian’s company Profile.
  • Overseas Medical insurance valid for all Schengen-countries. The insurance has to cover all risk e.g. accident, illness, etc. (Minimum Coverage is 30,000 Euros).
  • Submission of correspondence on existing business co-operation (documents showing business relations such as letters, invoices, e-mails, bank transfers, etc).
  • Proof of sufficient financial means: (1) Original Bank statement (Personal & company’s) for the last three months, (2) Original Income Tax Challan (Personal & Company’s) for the last three years, (3) Salary Slips (if salaried), (4) Foreign Exchange endorsement on the passport/receipt or Credit Card copy along with the statement or Traveller’s cheque.
  • Previous passport or passports may also be requested.
  • Hotel reservation or an affidavit from the Greek Company undertaking responsibility for the boarding & lodging of the Applicant.
  • Interview, if required by The Embassy of Greece.
  • Applicant would be asked for additional documents if required by The Embassy of Greece.
  • Copy of Pan Card of the applicant.
  • If applicant is going to present his documents/paper at a conference, than the hard copy of the document/paper is required.

Airport Transit Visa (A):

  • A valid travel document (e.g. national passport) valid at least three months beyond the
  • Intended stays in which a visa can be affixed on a blank page.
  • A visa application form correctly completed, signed and accompanied by recent passport
  • Photos bearing a true likeness to the applicant.
  • A valid entry visa for the country of destination.
  • A confirmed return or onward air line ticket.
  • A valid visa or other document enabling you to return to your country of residence.
  • Medical insurance with minimum coverage of € 30,000 per person.
  • Consular fees to be paid in cash at the time of application (the visa fee, according to
  • Schengen regulations, is non-refundable).
  • Proof of sufficient financial means.
  • Proof of current occupation.

Requirements for transit visa (applicable to crew joining ships at Greek ports)

  • The Embassy will not issue a visa until formalities have been completed in Greece
  • Passport with a validity of six months from the date of entry into Greece
  • Previous passport or passports may also be requested " C.D.C (Seaman's Book)
  • Employment contract
  • Air ticket
    Diploma/certificate (as applicable):
    1. Personal safety and social responsibility.
    2. Personal survival techniques.
    3. Elementary first aid.
    4. Fire prevention and fire fighting.
    5. On watch keeping.
  • Interview, if required.

Transit Visa (B)

  • Application form correctly filled in and signed together with two recent high quality passport size photographs.
  • Travel document (e.g. national passport valid for at least three months beyond the intended duration of stay in the Schengen territory) in which a visa can be affixed on an empty page.
  • Consular fees to be paid in cash at the time of application (the visa fee, according to
  • Schengen regulations, is non-refundable).
  • Proof of medical insurance valid for all Schengen countries for the entire duration of
  • Stay with a minimum coverage of 30.000 € per person. The insurance has to cover all expenses which might arise in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical attention and/or emergency hospital treatment. Foreign insurance policies have to be submitted with an English translation.
  • A valid entry visa for the country of final destination.
  • An onward or return journey ticket (a proof of reservation is needed e.g. reservation slip, but a ticket should not be bought until a visa is guaranteed or issued).
  • Proof of sufficient financial means for the duration of stay (cash, cheque and credit cards accepted in the Schengen countries, a pledge of financial support, an employment contract, bank statements, proof of enrolment on the trade register and/or of professional activity).
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel reservation or a letter of invitation) in case of overnight stay.

Student Visa (D)

  • One recent passport size photograph affixed on the form.
  • Passport with a validity of six months from the date of entry into Greece.
  • Previous passport or passports may also be requested.
  • Affidavit of sponsorship.
  • Proof of sufficient funds: income tax returns, bank statement, salary slip (last two years) of your sponsor.
  • Receipt of tuition fee deposited with a particular institute in Greece.
  • Police clearance certificate and medical fitness certificate should be attested by the Ministry of External Affairs, Consular Division, Patiala House, New Delhi.
  • Certificates of studies from the earlier classes to latest ones.
  • Analytical marks on the courses that they followed.
  • Certification of knowledge of the English language.
  • Official certification and documents from Greece, concerning special educative programs between universities or education authorities of the two countries.
  • Income documents of the parents of the applicant.
  • Personal interview.

Requirements for family re-unification:

  • Visa application form, duly completed and signed by the applicant.(Application form of the child under 18 should be signed by the parents/guardian)
  • One recent passport size photograph in colors with white background affixed on the form
  • Passport with a validity of six months from the date of entry into Greece.
  • Prior approval from the Greek Authorities.
  • Bank Account Statement of the Sponsor from Greece.(Last 3 months)
  • Income Tax returns of the Sponsor from Greece.(Last 3 years)
  • Rent agreement/proof of residence of the Sponsor from Greece.
  • Marriage photographs and Marriage card.
  • Marriage certificate duly stamped with Apostile sticker by the ministry of external affairs, CPV division, Patiala house, New Delhi.
  • Medical fitness certificate duly attested by the ministry of external affairs, consular division, Patiala house, New Delhi.
  • Police clearance certificate duly attested by the ministry of external affairs, consular division, Patiala house, New Delhi.
  • In case of chid under 18, Birth certificate duly stamped with Apostile sticker by the ministry of external affairs, CPV division, Patiala house, New Delhi.
  • Family status certificate duly attested by the ministry of external affairs, consular division, Patiala house, New Delhi.




APPLICANTS OF OTHER NATIONALITIES should have the last 5 documents attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of their respective country.

NOTE: Applicant would be asked for additional documents or may be called for an interview if desired by The Embassy of Greece.
Previous passport may also be requested.
The visa fee is non-refundable.
Original documents submitted must be accompanied along with a copy.

Requirements for visit to family/friend:

  • Application form to be filled in completely and signed by the applicant. (Application Form of child under 18 should be signed by both the parents/guardian.)
  • One recent passport-size photograph in colour with white background.
  • The Passport should be valid for at least six months beyond the intended duration of stay in the Schengen territory. from the date of entry into Greece.
  • A Covering letter from the applicant explaining the reason of the trip to Greece & the duration of stay.
  • Confirmed return air ticket
  • Overseas medical insurance valid for all Schengen-countries with a minimum coverage of 30,000 EURO. The insurance has to cover all risk e.g. accident, illness, etc. Insurance policies have to be submitted. The policy has to clearly specify the period of validity and has to cover the date of arrival & departure has to be submitted in original.
  • Proof of sufficient funds: Bank statements of last three months including Address & telephone number of the bank. - Original & one photocopy, Income Tax Challan of last three years, a copy of PAN card, Traveler’s Cheques/Copy of international credit cards with Statements/Foreign exchange endorsement on the passport or receipt.
  • Proof of Employment- Employment letter from the current organization stating the position and the tenure, a no-objection certificate from the organization confirming the leave status, salary slips for last three months.
  • In case of a minor, a no objection certificate should be produced by parents; a minor accompanied by one of the parent should also produce a no objection certificate by the other parent attested by a notary. (If applicable)
  • Bank Account Statement of the Sponsor.(Last 3 months)
  • Income Tax returns of the Sponsor.(Last 3 years)
  • Passport copy of all the pages of the sponsor.
  • Proof of residence of the Sponsor in Greece.

Requirements for work visa:

  • Visa application form, duly completed and signed by the applicant.
  • One recent passport size photograph affixed on the form.
  • Passport with a validity of six months from the date of entry into Greece.
  • Previous passport or passports may also be requested.
  • Work permit from Greece.
  • Interview.
  • Medical fitness certificate.
  • police clearance certificate

FOR NATIONALS OF INDIA: The last 2 documents should be attested by the Ministry of External Affairs, Consular Division, Patiala House, New Delhi.

APPLICANTS OF OTHER NATIONALITIES should have the last 2 documents attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of their country.

FOR NATIONALS OF INDIA: The last 2 documents should be attested by the Ministry of External Affairs, Consular Division, Patiala House, New Delhi.

APPLICANTS OF OTHER NATIONALITIES should have the last 2 documents attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of their country.
